Welcome to the Pelican Centre

The Pelican Centre is a registered charity and is run by a dedicated team of permanent staff and volenteers. The facilities offered include full size historic swimming pool, well equipped air conditioned gym and community hall and are open to all members of the public. Part and full memberships offer great value and includes fitness classes as well as adult gym & public swimming access. Click for more information.

Fitness classes are open to all adults over 14 years of age and no induction is required. For busier classes pre-booking is recommended, pay on entry for none members and free for members.

The fitness classes are held in the Community Hall which is heated and air conditioned to provide a comfortable enviroment for working out. There are modern changing and toilet facilities adjacent to the hall.

Fitness Yoga is suitable for all adults of all physical abilities.

The benefits of Yoga are endless and are perfect whether you only have time for one class a week and or as part of a fitness and strength regime.

If you are just starting a fitness plan Yoga will help you with all other aspects of fitness by providing core strength and balance, developing breathing and relaxation, strengthening muscles and tendons with a huge improvment in lexibity helping to reduce injuries.

Yoga is ideal for preparing for later life and is one of the only low impact exercises that meets NHS guidelines for moderate aerobic activity whilst they also include it in their recommended strehgth exercises. Whilst improving strength and balance if also has benefits for arthritis sufferers plus it is a very social activity.
